Pumpkin Math

We had fun with our pumpkin math! We had fun carving our Jack O'Lanterns. First, we estimated and made predictions about the size and the amount of seeds. Then, we measured our pumpkins. Next, we cut the top off the pumpkin! We had to get all the seeds out of the goo! It was very slimey! We counted the seeds in our pumpkins. One goup's pumpkin had 408 seeds! We got to carve the pumpkins! At the end we had to wash our hands because they were soooooo sticky! We got all messy! We had a fun time!

AR Tests

The AR test was very fun! The test we took today had only 5 questions. We read the book I Can Go Hiking and then we went to the computer lab and took a test! When the test was done, it gave us the score! We did great! After the AR test we got to play math games. We will start taking AR tests on Fridays!

Landform Models

These are the landforms created in 2G! Can you tell which is the mountains and valleys? How about the river or the lake? What about the peninsula or the island? Can you figure out which picture is the plain? Excellent work 2G!

Perfect Monday

We liked it when we got our ears and eyes checked today! Some of us didn't get our eyes checked because we already have glasses. You raise your hand when you hear the beep. Ms. Gleason had the "I Don't Like Candy Corn" song stuck in her head all day! We started a book called "But I'm Not Scared"!

AG in the Classroom

Yesterday we had a program called Agriculture in the Classroom! It was lots of fun. We learned about pumpkins, soybeans, and corn because those are crops grown in the state of Illinois! In fact, Illinois is the world leader pumpkin growers! Isn't that neat! We also got to taste some pumpkin pudding! Yumm!

Climate and Weather

Today in Social Studies we learned about different climates and weather! The places closest to the equator are warm most of the year! Places near the north and south pole have cold climates. Our climate has different weather during different parts of the year! Today the weather is sunny and about 70 degrees! It was fun learning about weather and climate! I hope we talk about it again!

Write to Self Stamina Party

Today we had lemonade and cookies because we got to 20 minutes for Write to Self! Some kids dipped their cookies into their lemonade! The cookies were half chocolate and half vanilla. It was fun! This week we are starting Work on Words. We will also hopefully get our Read to Someone Stamina Party this week! Nice job, 2G!

Hand Washing

Today our school nurse visited our class. She taught us about germs and how to wash our hands! We put lotion on our hands and then she sprinkled them with glitter. We pretended the glitter was germs. We went to the bathroom to wash the glitter off. You should wash your hands for 20 seconds! Germ free is the choice for me!

Fantastic Friday

Yesterday and today we started writing Super Sentences! Here they are:
A brown, soft, cuddly, teddy bear ate a pie at Taco Bell at night.
A cool, awesome, powerful Pokemon saw his friends at a hotel at midnight.

We are going to go outside for P.E. Today we took a Prediction test! Next week we start summarizing. We had lots of fun today. Yesterday, we made a poster about where we live. At 2:00 we are having music, so we've got to go! Have a great weekend!
